WHY OKLAHOMA CITY?

The Aviation and Aerospace cluster is quite large with more than 32,000 employees at significant employers such as Tinker Air Force Base, Federal Aviation Administration, Gulfstream Aerospace Technologies, Boeing, Lucent Technologies and others.  Tinker AFB is home to seven major Department of Defense, Air Force and Navy activities with critical national defense missions and has a population of over 22,000, which includes Air Force and Navy active duty personnel, civilian employees and military retirees.  The largest organization, Air Logistics Center, is the worldwide manager for a wide range of aircraft, engines, missiles, software and avionics, and accessories components and houses some of the most sophisticated technical repair and manufacturing processes in the world.  The Defense Megacenter Oklahoma City, the local branch of the Defense Information Systems Agency, operates computer systems for the base and serves 110 other bases in 46 states.
